What is the Kentucky Derby?
The Kentucky Derby is what horse people call a Grade I stakes race for 3-year-old thoroughbred horses. It’s been held every year since 1875 in Louisville, Kentucky, always on the first Saturday in May, at the Churchill Downs racetrack.
