Ukraine Deal Resisted by Pro-Russian Factions in East

As politicians and diplomats seek to solidify a deal aiming to stabilize Ukraine's volatile political climate, pro-Russian factions in the eastern part of the country appear more defiant than ever


On Saturday — two days after officials from Ukraine, Russia, the United States and the European Union met in Switzerland and agreed in principle to a pact to de-escalate rising tensions in Ukraine — the situation's "major players" met in Kiev to implement the agreement in practical terms, CNN reported



But vague bureaucratic statements appear to be the main result of that meeting. Meanwhile, pro-Russian forces who have occupied government buildings in Ukraine's eastern city of Donetsk say they won't leave until Ukraine's current interim government relinquishes power.
