Twitter just cozied up big time with Yahoo Japan.

Today Twitter announced it will integrate its promoted tweet and promoted account campaigns directly into Yahoo Japan’s “Promotion Ads Campaign Management Tool.” This appears to be Twitter’s first major international ad partnership, but it’s not the first time Twitter has attempted to expand ad reach globally.

It’s currently unclear if Twitter and Yahoo intend to extend this relationship outside of Japan. Neither company immediately responded to VentureBeat’s request for comment on the matter.

Although Twitter’s ad business is still young, the company’s monetization efforts are multi-faceted. For example, Twitter-owned MoPub recently debuted a native ad exchange. MoPub’s traditional banner ad network is massive, and it represents major profit potential for Twitter.

Today’s news represents just one piece of Twitter’s monetization puzzle, as the network hopes to shift from theoretical value into a certified profit machine.

More to follow.
