Each week we trawl through the internet’s jumble sale of apps to bring you a cool, new app that will hopefully improve your life in some way.

Carousel is Dropbox’s new addition to the app world, promising to be an improved version of your photo gallery on iOS or Android.

If you’re obsessed with taking pictures, this is the app for you.

I constantly get irritated by my Camera Roll, waiting for photos to load, and worrying that iCloud will let me down if I lose my phone.

Carousel lets you seamlessly scroll through years of memories without lag and has you covered for back-up.

Whether you’re an Android user or an iPhone fanatic, the in-built photo gallery leaves something to be desired and Dropbox have taken it upon themselves to fix the problem.

Share, like, comment

Carousel is Dropbox’s new foray into the app market, allowing you share, like and comment on all your photos. It prides itself on automatically organising all your photos, putting a ‘lifetime of memories at your fingertips.’

Memories safe forever

The best part is that the app backs up all your photos on Dropbox, keeping them in high resolution, safe and sound. Having been annoyed by the constant iCloud messages telling me my phone isn’t backed up, this alleviates my panic. There is nothing worse than losing your phone and losing all your memories with it!

Carousel shows that Dropbox are clearly interested in moving into more than just file storage, so it could be one to watch in the future. Carousel is available now on iOS or Android.

Could your app be download of the week?
