Man Allegedly Steals a Tesla, Then Becomes First to Die in a Model S Crash

A high-speed Tesla crash has resulted in the first Model S fatality — but the man behind the wheel was suspected of stealing the car.


Joshua Michael Flot, a 26-year-old from Inglewood, California, died three days after he was ejected from a Tesla Model S that crashed into other vehicles and split in half after striking a steel pole on July 4, said Ed Winters, a public information officer for the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.



Flot allegedly stole the vehicle from a Tesla service center in Los Angeles and led police on a high-speed chase, with the vehicle reaching speeds approaching 100 mph. After the crash, paramedics took Flot to Cedars-Sinai hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries Read more...
