A Cold War-Era Spy Plane Screwed Up the Air Traffic in Los Angeles

A Cold War-era spy plane nicknamed Dragon Lady caused air traffic chaos in Los Angeles last week, leading to dozens of cancelled flights and hundreds of delayed ones


The Federal Aviation Administration was forced to shut down air traffic in the LA area for an hour on Wednesday due to a computer glitch, the agency said on Monday after NBC News first reported the incident last week.



The incident involved a U-2 spy plane (famous for their Cold War operations) and a modern computer system at an air traffic control facility north of LA. The Pentagon said it's not unusual for U-2 planes to operate in that area. Read more...
