Zynga’s Q3 Results Beat Estimates, Driven by Mobile Efforts (Re/code)
Zynga reported better-than-expected third-quarter results as the maker of FarmVille set its mobile gaming push in motion with releases such as New Words with Friends. Shares in the San Francisco-based mobile gaming company were up more than 5 percent in after-hours trading on the Nasdaq after ending Thursday’s session up a cent at $2.36. Reuters Expected bookings, an indicator of future revenue, rose 15 percent to $175 million in the third quarter ended Sept. 30, higher than Wall Street estimates. Analysts, on average, had expected bookings to rise to $171.7 million in the third quarter, from $152.11 million in the same period a year earlier. VentureBeat “I am encouraged by the results of the quarter as we navigate through this time of transition,” Zynga chief executive Don Mattrick said in a statement. “Our teams have been working hard over the last year to reshape our business, and we are seeing that work show up in two important areas — our franchise bookings and mobile bookings growth.”

The Instagram account for American Express will be taken over starting Sunday (Nov. 9), but it’s not a hostile takeover: “Six talented photographers, entrepreneurs and tastemakers,” as the company put it, will bring their talents to @AmericanExpress for a two-week period. American Express said in an email to AllFacebook that this campaign marked the first time card members will share personal images on its Instagram account.
