Remerge is a mobile ad tech startup that lets advertisers re-target their customers.

Remerge’s $1 million seed round is led by Point Nine Capital. An unknown number of business angels and industry experts joined the round, which will be used to build the team and to improve the technology. The platform launched today.

It was founded in 2014 by a team of five entrepreneurs with backgrounds founding madvertise and LiquitM. The team came together and built Remerge after it recognized that app advertisers have a hard time efficiently managing their app’s user bases and retargeting their customers with the right messages.

Remerge claims to be the first platform that allows marketers to generically segment their audiences based on their individual requirements and business goals.

Segments will be defined by various criteria, such as users who have performed an in-app purchase. The software will reconnect to the customer to encourage other product purchases.

As Remerge explains, “[It] also offers data-secure import and ongoing audience segmentation without the use of any SDK, meaning marketers no longer have to organise and upload identifiers manually.”

Mobile advertising is a trending topic right now with many startups looking into that market.

In its tests, Remerge was used by 200,000 users per second. The company claims that app marketers are able to reach more mobile users globally with its platform than with any other solution.

Pawel Chudzinski, Managing Partner at Point Nine Capital, looked into advertising technology in Berlin. He found three reasons for the growing number in this field in Germany’s capital: A high number of e-commerce startups, a strong gaming industry and big media companies – all of this in Berlin or Germany wide.

Chudzinski concluded, “Investing in Remerge was a no-brainer for us — we’ve worked with the team before and were impressed by their work ethic and in-depth knowledge of the Adtech industry. By launching remerge.io, they are an early player addressing an ever-growing opportunity in the mobile industry.”

Point Nine Capital is an early stage VC that launched in Berlin in 2011. It invests seed or early series A rounds up to €1 million. Previously invested companies include Delivery Hero, Kreditech, madvertise, and Mention.
