
The ban on same-sex marriage in Arkansas was overturned Friday by Pulaski County Circuit Judge Christopher Piazza, who ruled the ban unconstitutional
Piazza's ruling directly challenges Arkansas' Act 144 of 1997, which states, "Marriage shall be only between a man and a woman. A marriage between persons of the same sex is void," and Amendment 83 of the state's constitution, which states, "Marriage consists only of the union of one man and one woman."
