SYDNEY — An 82-year-old missionary has been charged with trying to hijack a plane, after he tried to take over the controls of the light plane on which he was travelling Monday.
The pilot, 23-year-old James Chandler, had to wrestle the plane's controls back from passenger Les Nixon, and make an emergency landing.
"The pilot said that the passenger started grabbing the controls, turning off fuel lines and turning buttons randomly on and off," police Acting Inspector Gareth Smith told Fairfax Media.
