Bienvenue, Your Majesties. Queen Elizabeth II, her husband Prince Philip and their son Prince Charles traveled to France for a three-day state visit to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day, where they met with state officials and World War II veterans.
The Queen landed in Paris with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh on Thursday. On Friday, the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landing in Normandy, the royals will visit the site of history's largest seaborne invasion on June 6, 1944.
In Paris, the Queen was greeted by France's President Francois Hollande and Britain's ambassador to France, Sir Peter Ricketts, after riding the Eurostar train under the English Channel. The royal couple then made their way down the Champs-Élyssées to place a red, white and blue wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe. Read more...
