Following weeks of speculation and rumors, Apple on Wednesday officially announced it acquisition of Beats Electronics for a reported $3 billion, with co-founders Jimmy Ioving and Dr. Dre expected to join the Cupertino, Calif. company in as-yet-undisclosed roles.
