Samsung Galaxy Alpha announcement happening August 13, specifications surface early

On Thursday, we found out that the Galaxy Note 4 would be announced on September 3. We now know, along with its specifications, that Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Alpha on August 13. This conflicts with a previous report that the announcement would take place on August 4, but All About Samsung is reporting the later date is the official one.

The specifications for the Galaxy Alpha, according to this report, makes it seem that the device will not exactly be cutting edge. The processor inside is the company’s own Exynos 5433 with 2GB of RAM, the same one rumored to be featured inside the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 (except with a 3GB RAM boost). So that component alone is impressive. But the 4.8-inch display is going to have 720p resolution. The camera on the back is 12MP and the front one is 2MP. And Samsung is keeping the 32GB of internal storage locked with no microSD card slot. None of the aforementioned specs are particularly impressive. All of this, though, will be encased in a design that is framed with aluminum.
