Famo.us raises $25M

The promise of HTML5 was to bring smooth dynamic graphics and new rich content features to all browsers and devices. But that promise has gone largely unmet, and on mobile devices, we are still living very much in a native app world. Now, a San Francisco-based company called Famo.us has gone all-in with JavaScript — a lightweight, dynamic, browser programming language — to push the performance of HTML websites to levels that HTML5 proponents have so far only hoped for.

Electric Imp scores $15M

There’s a good chance you haven’t heard of Electric Imp — it doesn’t make consumer products. Instead, much like Intel or Qualcomm, it makes one of the components that makes smart devices, well, smart. Electric Imp has already made strong inroads in the consumer side of the Internet of things (connecting devices online that previously weren’t), specifically through the inclusion of its Wi-Fi modules in products such as GE+Quirky’s line of smart-home devices.

Greenhouse grabs $7.5M

Being on the job hunt is rough, and many candidates don’t know what to do or how to handle a lot of situations and decisions — but doing the actual hiring can be just as challenging. Greenhouse, a company that makes software that helps with finding qualified applicants, interviewing, and even the decision-making, has raised $7.5 million for its efforts to make it all better for employers. Greenhouse has already signed up well-known tech companies as customers, including Uber, Pinterest, Snapchat, BuzzFeed, Airbnb, Mixpanel, Medium, and Oculus. Social+Capital Partnership led the round, with additional participation from Resolute Ventures and Felicis Ventures.

AdStage nabs $6.25M

For many brands, online ad campaigns take place across multiple platforms, so any tool that makes it more efficient to run these campaigns is quite welcome. A startup called AdStage controls and runs campaigns on Facebook, Bing, Google AdWords, and LinkedIn all from one place, and it announced today that it has closed $6.25 million in new funding. AdStage is also announcing the release of a new app, Automated Rules, which automates campaigns based on rules and recipes you set, even if you’re offline.

AuditFile grabs $3M

While a lot of accountants and other finance buffs genuinely love their spreadsheet-laden jobs, many of them still wish that some parts of the accounting daily flow were more efficient and had better tools. AuditFile, which just raised $3 million in funding, is working on just that. Its software helps manage tasks and workflow, tracking spreadsheets and other files. It integrates with the Microsoft Office Suite, which the accounting world is still very much attached to. Banneker Ventures led the round, with additional participation from Tim Draper, the rapper Nas, Rothenberg Ventures, and Ray Tonsing.
