In preparation for the summer, where at least some of you will accidentally drop your new smartphone in a pool, Sprint is offering open enrollment for device protection packages for both prepaid and postpaid customers. The protection plan will cover any damage done to the phone, including drops, cracks, spills, or water damage, as well as the device being lost, or stolen. Plus, Sprint’s protection program will also secure you against losing any important data on your device.
Prepaid customers can opt-in for $7 a month, while contract customers pay between $8 and $13 a month, depending on the device. The Total Equipment Protection Plus that includes data backup and support for wiping and securing lost or stolen phones is a bit extra, but if you’re prone to losing devices, it’s not a bad option.
If you’ve got a Sprint device that’s lacking any kind of insurance, you have until the end of June to get this set up on your device. Now’s a great time to take advantage of it.
