Researchers unmasked a new group of Chinese military hackers that have allegedly been spying and stealing corporate secrets from aerospace, satellite and communications companies based in the U.S. and Europe, for years.
The group is part of China's People Liberation Army (PLA) Unit 61486, which is based in Shanghai, according to a report published Monday by security firm CrowdStrike. The new report — which will likely further strain U.S.-China relations — comes less than a month after the U.S. government charged five members of the PLA, accusing them of hacking American businesses.
