Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is a movie theater chain famous for its “war on texting in movies” PSA:
Yes, that just happened.
So now it appears that Alamo will be banning Google Glass from its theaters, as movie-goers will be required to take them off before coming attractions.
I’m all for Glass in public, as it’s a bit hard to conceal them, especially when comparing them with snapping an inconspicuous photo with your cell phone camera. (There are much more secretive, thumbtack-sized cameras out there anyway.)
But this? This I can completely understand.
Google Glass really doesn’t have a place in the movies. It’s illegal to record movies in the theater, and it’s not like you’ll be video chatting, looking up restaurant suggestions or tracking your most recent jog while chowing down on some popcorn and soda at the movies.
There really shouldn’t be too much pushback on this, as what they’re asking is completely reasonable.
Have you seen Glass get banned at places by you? Let us know in the comments section.
