This joyless, violent, compelling HBO series closed on a surprisingly hopeful note Sunday night, with a Season 1 finale that brought the dysfunctional Garvey family back together again — sort of.
Dubbed "The Prodigal Son Returns," the episode marked the arrival of long-absent Tom Garvey in Mapleton after months on assignment for Holy Wayne as Christine's protector and faux baby-daddy.
