First they argued and made up over a software scuffle, but now there is tension regarding wearables. Samsung recently made the decision that Tizen would be its smartwatch platform, but Larry Page of Google is not very happy about that. According to The Information, Samsung’s vice chairman Jay Y. Lee met with Page a few weeks ago and Page expressed exactly how he felt.
While Samsung was a launch partner for the Android Wear platform, it does continue to flood the wearables market with products like the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit. Those devices do run Tizen and Samsung has even updated older models to run Tizen. The Gear Live, one of the two Android Wear launchers, really is just a repackaged Gear 2.
In a recent interview, Android’s head honcho Sundar Pichai did make it clear that Google and Samsung happily work together. Well, it looks like there are small fractures in the already repaired relationship.
