Streaming music beast Spotify now has 50M listeners and 12.5M paying subscribers

Despite the backlash Spotify is getting over Taylor Swift’s decision to remove her entire library, Spotify remains the largest music service in the world.


In a blog post published by Spotify CEO Daniel Ek, the company revealed that it now has 50 million monthly active listeners across the globe. What’s more impressive is that 12.5 million are paying subscribers dishing out $120 annually.


What’s more interesting is that Spotify’s last update on user growth wasn’t even that long ago. Back in May, the company revealed that it had 40 million monthly active listeners and 10 million paying subscribers.


That kind of growth is huge. It’ll be interesting to see if Spotify’s momentum is affected by this recent backlash with Swift and other artists.
